Pro: The charm of any Great ship story is the setting. The planet-sized vehicle full of ancient races, including immortal human beings, offers endless opportunities to showcase wonderous things.
In this story, we have a nameless male robot who spends around a thousand years or so researching what increasingly seems to be a very ancient technology, while political intrigue outside his research area occasionally inserts itself.
Con: All the interesting action seems to be happening elsewhere, and Nameless He has zero influence on any of it. The story ends without much of anything having happened.
