★★☆☆☆
(Generation Ship) A crew member describes the songs he and his friends made when they put together a band centuries from Earth and centuries from their destination. (6,764 words; Time: 22m)
This might be more fun for someone who really knows jazz well.

Review: 2019.680 (A Word for Authors)
Pro: The best part of the story is how it gradually reveals to us what went wrong with the starship and what the consequences were.
Con: The biggest problem is that it’s dull. The endless descriptions of the music get really old after a while. The first-person narrator not only isn’t grounded (we never learn sex, age, or anything) but doesn’t even take part in the plot.
The idea that a target solar system could become dynamically unstable during the ~150 years a ship might take to get there is unbelievable. And if it did happen, the mission would be a loss—there’s no way they could just pick another destination at that point.
