Pro: They hint at a much more positive outcome to WWII, albeit in a world with a lot of dangerous magical creatures.

Con: No characters, no plot, no action.

  1. Intriguing snippets, but it's like reading a brainstorm of story ideas on this theme.

    1. Occasionally I see an "idea story" like this, where the whole thing is the idea and nothing else. Note that the author doesn't "tell" the story but rather "shows" it, so there is some real craft here. I'm not sure I'd ever recommend such a thing, but I probably should have given it a bit more credit than I did.

      The other kind I struggle with are the "setting stories," where there's a cool location, but not much else.

      It was like the native peoples of various continents were the ones who went to war. Definitely alternate history.
