A young girl with birth defects longs to be a cyborg.

Mini-Review (click to view--possible spoilers)

Body Integrity Disorder (desire to have limbs removed) really exists, but there's something heart-rending about the idea that a person already born without two limbs might want to lost the other two as well. The story reads like a mini tragedy, where the initial decision briefly leads to her enjoying tremendous power and strength, only to end up worse off than she was before.

The virus that prevents prosthetics from working is difficult to believe.
