Acres of Perhaps, by Will Ludwigsen

Asimov's Science Fiction, July 2015; ~13,300 words
Rating: Not Rated, no speculative element  Recommended By:    SFEP

In his old age, a TV writer reflects on a show he worked on fifty years ago--the only work he's really proud of--and the almost supernatural way it came to an end.

Mini-Review (click to view--possible spoilers)

The key is "almost." Nothing leads us to believe anything supernatural really occurred. The fact that little children play around the "magic" stump strongly suggests the contrary. It's an awfully good story, but it's not speculative fiction of any kind.
