This is a small part of the author’s sweeping “Archonate Universe,” which comprises some 70 novels and short stories over the past 25 years. For the most part, the stories are only loosely connected, so it doesn’t matter a whole lot which one you start with; they’re all good fun, if not particularly memorable.
