Review: 2020.280 (A Word for Authors)

Pro: The shape shifters in this story are more like body snatchers, since they destroy the original individual and replace him/her. Although, as we see, the new person does retain a lot of memories from the original. Possibly this is a metaphor for the way a loved one can acquire a new interest and suddenly seem like a different person.

The great strength of the story is that it shows Zoe’s love for Alex so strongly that we feel real pain when we realize that she’s lost him.

Con: From the moment Zoe watched that video of a shifter stealing a judge’s body, I was certain that the next time she saw Alex, he’d be possessed, so there was no real surprise there.
