Review: 2019.640 (A Word for Authors)
Pro: This is definitely a tale of star-crossed lovers. And while it’s a bit sad, it’s also awfully funny in places.
I liked it that Ellis got to Myrna’s planet the same way John Carter got to Mars. That was a nice touch.
I’m surprised how well “ze” and “zer” work as pronouns here. I’ve gotten used to “they” (finally) but, at least in this story, “ze” and “zer” seem to work very smoothly.
Con: It’s also a little gross. The humor sits uncomfortably with the gruesome way the story ends.
