Although the story hints at something supernatural that might be happening, it’s all explainable as dreams or imagination. Even the ending.

  1. This is a very good, very creepy story. There is only a pinch of genre in it, IF you choose to interpret it as a genre ghost story.

This has a lot less genre in it than Passing Strange, which I thought had enough genre in it. Not much but enough, and I really liked Passing Strange.

What also was a problem for me was the very odd soul cake recipe the main character was making. Soul cakes are a real thing that can be made and eaten, but no way would I eat that much if it tasted horrible.

    4 stars. Worth reading
