Pro: Alphronz gets his comeuppance, and Hildefranch’s punishment of him is better imagined than described. The ending that ties back to the start was cute too. Beyond that, the dialogue is natural and the narration is transparent throughout the story.
Con: Alphronz is a rather unsatisfying protagonist; Jarndycek does all the work once we meet him.
For all the fuss about the athlenath, it was never made clear what function it performed, unless it somehow created the fake horses and carriage.
