Pro: The bits of back story gradually tell us a chilling story of some sort of geo-engineering effort meant to reverse global warming that ended up destroying the world instead.

Con: It’s quite a downer. She didn’t drown with her mother, and she managed to lose her virginity to a nice boy, but they’re still going to starve.
