Pro: He finally gets it right. Not only does he get to rest, he accomplishes his goal of getting God’s attention.
The exhaustive approach to trying every possible way to be executed (e.g. if it’s execution by bear, then we’ll try every possible kind of bear) sounded very similar to some marketing campaigns.
Con: It’s not clear why crucifixion was so much better than the other methods. Nor why they tried a million other things first, given how common it was. Surely you'd try that before you tried polar bears!
