Pro: The vivid descriptions are probably the best part of the story, and the bits of backstory foreshadow the revelation that Thistle isn’t human.
Con: It’s obvious from the beginning that Thistle isn’t human and that she’s bringing Wilder to his death. Instead of suspense, the story takes so long to get anywhere that the ending comes as a relief.
