The author originally published this story in Cyborgology on June 2, 2015. Tor has reprinted it with only minor changes and has mistakenly listed it as "Original" rather than "Reprint."
Although the original has been removed from Cyborgology, the author 's blog still has a page listing it as award-eligible in 2015, and a positive review of it appeared in Lady Business that same month.
Sometimes an author will substantially change an older story, and in those cases the result is usually eligible for awards as if it were new. To determine the extent of the changes, we found a copy of the original on the Wayback Machine and we compared it to the version on Tor.com. A diff between the two shows no changes other than minor formatting and copy-editing.
Accordingly, this is a reprint, not an original story, and therefore we aren't reviewing it.
