Pro: Some of the surreal humor is pretty funny.

Con: The mix of humor and horror doesn’t work very well, and it goes on way too long.

  1. I liked the dry, investigation-style humor, but, yeah, maybe a tad too long. Once again, F&SF doesn't know how long their final published story actually is. And, as in this case, it can be off enough to slip into another category. Since the issue with the Nebula finalists, I've been checking myself and found about the same as you show here. They say this one is 7323 words so maybe somewhere there's a version with 200 some less words!
