Pro: The story actually does have a plot, albeit a small one. Mr. Thursday wants to prevent Rose’s death, but despite his efforts, she dies anyway, and he loses his job for his interference.
Con: It’s dull. We get all sorts of info about Victor and Rose that we don’t care about. The story infodumps its way through chapter 1 and most of chapter 2 before anything happens. Even most of chapter 3 is pointless filler. We never care about any of the characters, and Mr. Thursday comes across as an annoying loser.

My impression was that he didn't prevent the accident, but he does pull her out. Rose reminded him of his daughter.
