Pro: The story is filled with entertaining allusions to Jewish history and references to various languages. For example, his ship is the Vey Is Mir which is Yiddish for “Woe is me.”
Con: It’s crushingly dull. It reads like someone wrote down the events in a quest from a video game, complete with details about each fight.

The periodic use of Catholic terminology also seemed to have no rhyme or reason. I felt the author was trying to make a point with that but couldn't figure out what (which could, of course, be my own fault).
ReplyDeleteI feel I lack the religious knowledge to appreciate this one. And, um, what the heck is up with that illustration?
