Pro: A nice thriller, with lots of tension. In addition to the primary plot, there's a subplot about Eris and Kit developing respect for each other, and, in the process, we come to know and like both of them.
The City and its technology are both very well-described. The place seems very real to us, and the technology all hangs together logically, for the most part.
Con: Schorr is a cardboard villain. A disease that kills 100% of people is difficult to believe in, especially if it's waterborne.

ReplyDeleteAlso, do you see a trend of stories by Rich Larson about people taking over each others bodies? Like in Jonas and the Fox earlier this year. The prosthetic body parts are another one of his tropes
ReplyDeleteHuman augmentation is certainly something he explores a lot, as in "Edited," "Sleep Factory," "Meshed," "Ice," and "Going Endo."
