Pro: From the meeting with Suzanne's father as well as the reluctance of the explorers to reveal anything about what they've found, we are adequately prepared to find something unbelievable. The story nicely wraps up Suzanne's concerns about her husband and hints at something for her father too.

Con: I suppose a person can lose his/her faith upon learning of a terminal illness, but normally it seems to rekindle people's faith, so that felt a little odd. Of course the whole premise of the story is way out there.

  1. The best part was the completely un-SFFnal interaction between father and daughter. My thought at the big reveal was that it wouldn't be wondrous or awe-inspiring --- pretty much the opposite. And I was scratching my head at Charles being gone for two years, yet Suzanne can be there and back in two weeks. I found Charles pretty despicable. First, he breaks up with her for her own good, and then he makes it up to her by giving her the scoop -- oh, wait, no he doesn't.
