Mini-Review (click to view--possible spoilers)
It describes his apprenticeship to the vampire, Monsieur, and concludes when he leaves for the university--still human. His devotion and obedience have earned him this much.
Con: It's an uncomplicated, linear story. Jacob makes no real mistakes--he's too obedient to his master for that. There's no real tension or excitement. Jacob's final comments to the narrator tell us what the real story is going to be about.
