Hob's Choice, by Tim Sullivan

The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, November/December 2015; 9,294 words
Rating: 2, Not recommended in isolation; depends on previous stories

Hob Dancer has come from Earth to Cet Four because his great-great-grandmother wants him to learn about the natives, who are struggling to survive human colonization.

Mini-Review (click to view--possible spoilers)

We start not really knowing why Hob is there, and we end not sure what really happened. The ending is a deux ex machina by any standard. The TA is a paper villain--cruel for the sake of pure meanness.
