Her Echo, by K.J. Kabza

The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, November/December 2015; 615 words
Rating: 3, Good, ordinary, story  Recommended By:   SFRevu:4

In the style of an old legend, this story tells about what happened to Old Wise Woman's reflection, shadow, and echo after she died.

Mini-Review (click to view--possible spoilers)

Pro: Short as it is, it has clear characters, conflict, and resolution. It even feels like an old legend, whose moral might be that good deeds can have unintended consequences.

Con: The poor young man didn't do anything to deserve what happened to him. It reads like a celebration of cruelty and spite.
