Pro: The story works, assuming you can suspend disbelief. The gift of the vacuum cleaner is hysterical. And it even has a happy ending.
Con: It's very hard to suspend disbelief for this. The manufacturer would almost certainly have a fix for it--they'd be inundated with customer complaints otherwise. Anything eating 90% of the CPU would be very obvious.
