Mini-Review (click to view--possible spoilers)
This is the third Jack Shade story, but it stands on its own very well. The writing flows smoothly, the descriptions of the characters, locations, and magical elements all feel very real--disbelief never rears its ugly head.
The worst that can be said about it is that it's probably longer than it needs to be. That and the fact that we don't really care much about Jack--we root for him, but he never strongly engages our sympathy.
