A Turkey with Egg on His Face, by Rob Chilson

The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction, May/June 2015; 6,995 words
Rating: 3, Good, ordinary, story  Recommended By:   SFRevu:5

Modest, young Missouri man has "friends" who bully him, a "girlfriend" who doesn't know he likes her, and a time machine.

Mini-Review (click to view--possible spoilers)

Pro: This is a fun tale--a rare modern example of an omniscient narrator that actually works. Chloe may not be dating Georgie by the end, but his other problems seem squared away.

Con: This is a story about a wimp. Deputy Parker gets rid of Harry's friends, and he creates Georgie's alibi for Harry's murder. We don't really get to see the time machine used, and we're in the dark as to how Georgie killed Harry.

  1. Actually, this story is by Rob Chilson; the byline in the electronic edition is wrong.
