About

Greg Hullender and Eric Wong have been together almost 20 years. We're technical guys, long-time SF readers who like to read stories and rate them for each other. This blog simply shares what we've been doing privately for years.

Rocket Stack Rank is our retirement project. We're doing this for fun; the site is not monetized in any way whatsoever, nor do we think it ever will be.

  1. Cool. So even with hundreds of miles between us, I can still virtually raid your book stacks for excellent SF stories.

  2. FYI: Kelly Robson posted 'Two-Year Man' from Asimov's to her site so you can post a link to it.

  3. Guys, love what you're doing.
Just wanted you to know that http://www.rocketstackrank.com/feeds/posts/default/-/Ratings?alt=rss
seems to be working better than
    http://feeds.feedburner.com/RocketStackRankRatings
as the latter isn't picking up any of the 2016 Rankings

    1. Thanks for the bug report. I fixed it by restricting the FeedBurner feed to show the last 5 posts. Without the restriction, the feed included every post since the blog was created until it hit the 1 MB limit!

  4. If I run into you guys in KC I would love to buy you some beer.

This site is quickly becoming my go-to after I read any short story.

    1. That sounds like a great idea. Once MidAmeriCon2 releases the official program, maybe we can pick a time and place.

  7. Wow! Just discovered this site thanks to James Wallace Harris' article on WWEnd yesterday (https://blog.worldswithoutend.com/2019/04/subscribe-to-sf-magazines-become-a-patron-of-an-art/). I've been a SFF novel reader exclusively, until this year when I acquired a nice run of Dozois annuals at a yard sale (21st through 25th for $5!). Keep up the good work! This site is incredibly useful (though I'm still trying to navigate it). Thanks!

    1. Thanks for the kind words! If you have any questions about navigating the site, don't hesitate to ask.

I just looked at that article, "Subscribe to SF Magazines – Become a Patron of an Art", by James Wallace Harris (Worlds Without End; April 3, 2019), and it's excellent! You might also want to read our article, "Finding a Science-Fiction/Fantasy Magazine to Subscribe To," which also includes a plea for people to subscribe to more magazines--even if they're available online for free.

    2. Hi Greg.
I have a question for you. Hope this is an alright spot to ask. How can I get my book on your radar?

  8. Hey Greg I wrote a Sci-Fi book in the year 2093 with Earth and Mars when it's colonized. I'd love to send you the free PDF file for you to read and possibly review! 🙂 If you can provide an email I'll send it thank you, matt

  9. Hi Greg, I was wondering if you'd consider checking out my short story The Insignificance of Time Travel, which is available to read on my website? You’ll also find a homemade audio of the story posted there as well:

The main reason behind this request is that I’m attending WorldCon 2024 in Glasgow in August. I'm trying to get the story out there with a nod to nomination for Best Short Story at the 2024 Hugo Awards. Wish me luck on that one :-) Thanks for your time.

    Best,

    Jim A

    1. Sorry but we don't do write reviews anymore. We only collect recommendations for short fiction from prolific reviewers across the web now.
