Review: 2020.320 (A Word for Authors)

Pro: The dialogue sparkles, the narration is transparent, and the characters are delightful. There’s a reasonable amount of tension, and there’s a good emotional release.

The story pays a great deal of attention to elements of the traditional Robin Hood legend, and all the major figures in those stories get at least a mention.

In terms of plot, for the most part, this is a rescue story, but it’s also a coming-of-age story for Mary.

Con: One can argue that this is historical fiction, not fantasy at all.

The biggest problem with the story is that it takes too long to get going. The introduction is sized for a novel, not a novella.
