Mini-Review (click to view--possible spoilers)

Pro: The story has a lot of tension in it, whether we’re waiting for the bear to eat the girl or wondering if he’s going to rape her.

Con: The envelope story, about how this is being read at his funeral, doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. The story itself has no actual plot, given that the bear is the protagonist and has no particular goals.
